Ever wonder how your food is grown? UW-Extension Agricultural Educator Ben Jenkins will give a talk on the tools and practices of growing food while preserving our second-most important resource: our soil. It is Ben's firm belief that healthy communities start from the ground up. Join him as he covers the tools of the trade as they relate to working the soil for planting and growing. His talk will cover tillage tools what and why, as well as alternative and emerging soil saving practices. He will briefly cover things like manuring, cover cropping, and no-till. The audience will leave with an understanding of how food is grown and what today's environmentally conscious farmers are doing to maintain and preserve our second-most important resource.
