Healthy Cooking: Spices vs Salt

You’ve probably heard it before – Americans eat too much salt. In fact, many Americans consume twice the amount of sodium that’s recommended as the upper limit for a healthy diet, and almost all that sodium comes from salt. Most of the food you eat – more than 75% - comes from packaged, processed, store-bought, and restaurant foods. That means the sodium is in your food before you even buy it, and generally, the more processed the food, the more likely it is to be made with lots of salt. Join Katie Gellings, Health & Well-Being Educator from UW Madison Division of Extension - Green Lake County, on August 5 at 6pm to learn ways to reduce your salt intake, and flavor your food with spices instead. All participants will make a spice blend to take home.

Registration is required for this program. Call the library at 920-361-5420 to register. Masks will be required for attendees.
