Sex
Education, by Jenny Davis (Young Adult)
Sometimes
the most innocent decisions of one’s life can put into motion
the most devastating of consequences. When Mrs. Fulton decides to initiate
a meaningful sex education class that deals with the total person physically
and emotionally, Olivia and her classmates think her idea is great.
There will be no grading or tests. Their one major assignment is to
“care” for some in the community.
Olivia, Livvie
to her friends, undertakes this assignment with David Kindler, a fellow
student to whom Livvie is immediately drawn. David and Livvie decide
to care for Livvie’s new neighbors, the Parkers. This might be
difficult to accomplish since Mr. Parker has made it abundantly clear
that he wants no contact with anyone from the neighborhood. Livvie and
David, however, befriend Mrs. Parker who is pregnant. This simple act
of kindness on their part will have huge repercussions in the lives
of all three families.
