Aquamarine, by Alice Hoffman (Junior)
Aquamarine is the story of two best friends, Hailey and Claire, who discover a mermaid in the bottom of a beach club pool. Blown in by a storm Aquamarine is fading each day she is out of salt water. Unfortunately Aquamarine is love struck and refuses to leave the object of her desire, Raymond the soda fountain clerk. Also the beach club is slated for demolition. In this race against time and love the two best friends try to figure out a way to save Aquamarine.
This book is an enjoyable story about friendship, and maintaining a friendship when one person moves away.
