The Magnificent
Mummy Maker,
by Elvira Woodruff (Junior)
Andy
is tired of being second best in his home. After his father’s
remarriage, his new stepbrother, Jason, the gifted one, gets all the
glory and Andy gets the criticism.
Andy
has a class assignment to create something that has to do with the ancient
Egyptians. He has decided to do an exhibit using his Lego building blocks
and ship. His “gifted” stepbrother overhears his idea and
steals it.
When his class
visits the Egyptian exhibit at the museum, something strange happens
to Andy while he is looking at a mummy of an Egyptian princess. All
of a sudden he has incredible artistic abilities. Instead of a galley
ship or the mummy his friend Keg wants to make out of recently deceased
hamster, Andy paints the picture of a mummy casket. It turns out so
well that the whole school showers attention on him and not his brother.
He is now the one that stands out. The question that lingers in Andy’s
mind is how did he get these talents and how long will these talents
last.
