Lucky Lady, by Susan Saunders (Junior/Young Adult)
Jamie Cooper is not happy with her mother’s decision to have her stay with her grandfather in Texas while she is away on an assignment in Asia. Jamie feels the only thing going for her will be that she can ride horses at the ranch. She soon discovers that her grandfather has sold off most of his animals and only has old Samson left on the ranch. When Jamie and her new friend Arnoldo attend a horse auction, Jamie impulsively buys a wild horse that no one else will bid on in order to save it from the glue factory. When her grandfather objects to the bronc, he gives Jamie a deadline to train him or it will be the glue factory for her horse.
