Dorrie's
Book,
by Marilyn Sachs (Junior)
Why is it
that everyone assumes that only children are lonely and dying to have
a little brother or sister? Dorrie certainly didn’t. She had managed
to live a perfectly wonderful life with her beautiful and doting mother
and her charming handsome father in a gorgeous hilltop apartment for
eleven years. No one bothered to ask her if she wanted any changes in
her life! If they had, her answer would have been a resounding NO!
Suddenly,
not only does Dorrie have one little brother or sister on the way, her
mother has triplets! These new additions completely change the lives
of the family in ways no one considered. They have to move to a house,
one with “potential”. The potential is lost on Dorrie. She
just sees work. Not only that, the place seem to be full of pesky neighbors
butting into her life where they are not wanted.
A good book
for anyone who has had the privilege of being an only child for a number
of years! This includes me! The diary format makes this a fun read.
